THIS WEEKS INTEL

Open Instagram right now and ask why you are really on it. The honest answer is entertainment. The feed hands you whatever holds your attention, and catching up with mates barely comes into it. That is a different app to the one we all learned to post on.

Five years ago the deal was simple. Post a flyer with a few hashtags and your followers saw it. That deal is gone. The people scrolling past your post want something to watch, and a flyer with hashtags gives them nothing.

Most DJ pages are still built for the old behaviour. You post a gig announcement one week, then a photo from Saturday when you remember, and each one gets forgotten by Monday.

The DJs pulling real followings stopped thinking post by post. They run a format. Something that goes out every week and looks the same each time, so people have a reason to come back. The audience learns what to expect from you, and that expectation is what turns a passing viewer into someone who actually watches your stuff.

Four things make a format work:

Territory is the patch you want to own in someone's head. Mine is soulful house. Yours might be open-to-close storytelling, or a sound nobody local is playing.

Message is the one idea you want tied to your name. Repeat it until it sticks.

Format is the repeatable shape. A weekly mix breakdown, a track of the week, a two-minute studio clip filmed the same way every time.

Hook is the reason someone stops on the first frame, plus a reason to come back for the next one.

So here is the test. Pick one format and run it for eight weeks straight, same day every week, no swapping it out when you get bored in week three. Eight weeks is enough to see whether it lands.

Most DJs will read this and carry on posting flyers. If you hold one format for two months, you will be in a different position by autumn.

DJOS - THE NEW MANAGEMENT TOOL FOR DJS

DJOS is the DJ Operating System. One place to run the career instead of six. Three tools and a library.

Tasks gives the week a plan you can actually see. Content Pipeline keeps you clear on what you're posting and why. Bookings holds every enquiry, rate and post-gig detail in one form, so nothing gets lost between the DM and the payment.

The library sits alongside the tools. Both my books, the full DJ course, the SET Formula guide and the 5S Framework, all in the same place you manage the work. Read the method, then go straight to applying it.

It's €47. One payment. You own it, and your data exports whenever you want it.

If your career currently lives across six apps and your own head, this is the fix.

P.S. Use the code DJOS10 at checkout for 10% off.

Most DJ accounts are ignoring all of it. Most DJs write the caption last. You upload the set, tag the venue, add a quick line on top, and share. Instagram has just published its own guidance on captions, and it treats them as central to how a post performs. In its words, the caption tells the search system what...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs THIS WEEKS INTEL For a lot of DJs, summer ending feels like the season winding down. The gigs thin out, the festival posts stop, and everyone goes a bit quiet. The booking calendar however says the opposite. The back half of the year is one of the busiest stretches there is, and a big chunk of it lands midweek, which frees up your weekends for other club gigs. Corporate party season...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs THIS WEEKS INTEL Most DJs run their career from memory. The gigs, the rates, the content plan, the follow-ups, all of it held in your head, or the back of a fag packet. Then you miss a booking or forget what you quoted someone last time. I’ve create a tool to help with all this it’s called DJOS and it just got 4 major updates. It's off Notion and on its own site now. Your own login,...
