SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS AND UPDATES

Instagram News

Instagram will soon let users re-set recommendations in Feed.

Have you ever wanted to clear the slate of info that Instagram has on your interests and start afresh?

Soon, you’ll be able to do just that, with IG testing a new option that will essentially clear its memory of what it knows about you, in order to re-shape your recommendations in-stream.

As you can see in the above screens, Instagram will still keep your activity and interest info for ad targeting. But in terms of the content that it recommends to you, which is an increasing amount of what you see in the app, this will give you the option to reset and start over.

As explained by Instagram:

“In just a few taps, you’ll be able to clear your recommended content across Explore, Reels and Feed and start fresh. Your recommendations will start to personalise again over time, showing new content based on the content and accounts you interact with. When resetting, you’ll also have the option to review the accounts you’re following and unfollow any that share content you no longer want to see." Which could be a good way to update and refresh your IG experience, especially if you’re no longer interested in a topic, or you feel like Instagram’s algorithm is a little too sensitive to certain elements. For example, sometimes you might go to a celebrity’s profile to see their latest post, which has sparked some sort of controversy. IG might then think you’re interested in that person, and soon, your Explore feed is loaded with daily updates on everything that they’re doing.

But you don’t really care, and in that instance, maybe you might want to blow it up and start again. However that would also eliminate all of your other preferences.

Facebook News

Facebook To Remove the Option To Allow Public Followers on Personal Profiles

Get ready for a change to your Facebook profile, with the platform removing the option to have public followers on personal profiles over the coming months.

Right now, you can enable anybody to follow your personal Facebook profile, by switching your “Following” setting to public.

“When you follow someone, you see their posts in your Feed. You automatically follow people you’re friends with. You can also follow the posts of people you’re interested in. You can also choose to allow people who aren’t your friends to see your posts in their Feed.”

So it’s a means for non-connections to stay up to date with your Facebook posts. Which is probably not necessary for non-creator or business accounts, so Meta’s decided to remove the option.

Here are 5 Tips for growing on TikTok

Growing your TikTok business page requires consistent, strategic content that hooks viewers and builds a community around your brand. Here’s a comprehensive plan to get you going:

1. Define Your Niche and Ideal Audience

  • Focus on your expertise in DJing, social media, and helping DJs improve their presence online.
  • Target your audience precisely: DJs, social media enthusiasts, and aspiring creators looking for digital growth.

2. Optimize Your Bio

  • Profile Picture: Use a high-quality, friendly headshot or your business logo if it’s visually engaging.
  • Bio: Make it specific and engaging, e.g., “Helping DJs & creators hit the beat on social media! 🎶 | DJ Tips | Growth Hacks | 📈 Follow for daily insights!”
  • Call to Action: Use a link-in-bio tool to direct followers to your DJ course, Instagram, or website.

3. Content Strategy & Schedule

Weekly Posting Frequency: Aim for 5-7 posts per week to keep the algorithm in your favor. Use these content pillars to structure your weekly posts:

  • DJ Tips & Tricks (2-3 times a week): Share actionable tips for DJs—mixing techniques, transition hacks, organising music. These should be short, digestible videos (15–30 seconds).
  • Social Media Growth Tips (1-2 times a week): Focus on how DJs can improve their social media. This could include tips on Instagram reels, creating engaging posts, and general social media strategies.
  • Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) (1 time a week): Share snippets of your work routine, setting up for gigs, preparing content, or meeting clients. This adds relatability and authenticity.
  • Engagement-Driven Posts (1 time a week): These can be open-ended questions, trends, or duets with popular sounds. For example, “What’s the hardest part about DJing for you?” or “What’s your go-to transition track?”

4. Types of Content to Post

  • Quick Tips & Hacks: People love quick wins, so share simple tips on improving DJ setups, gaining followers, or creating content. Add catchy captions like “3 DJ Tricks to Instantly Level Up Your Set.”
  • How-To Videos: Show your process for mixing, promoting events, or creating content. Explain things step-by-step and finish with a CTA like, “Drop a 👍 if this helped!”
  • Educational Content: Address common issues DJs face, like “How to Get More Gigs” or “Best Times to Post for Maximum Reach.”
  • Storytelling Content: Share experiences from gigs or with big-name DJs, as these stories build credibility and make followers invested in your journey.
  • Trending Sounds & Challenges: Get in on trends relevant to your niche. Use popular sounds but relate them to DJing or social media growth.

5. Following Strategy

  • Follow Key Players: Focus on following DJs, music producers, and social media experts whose content aligns with your goals.
  • Engage Intentionally: Comment on posts by larger creators in your niche. Leave thoughtful responses, not just generic praise—this can attract followers back to your page.
  • Limit Follow Backs: Only follow back accounts that align with your niche to keep your following list curated and relevant.
