You're posting. You're consistent. You're putting the effort in. And the numbers just plateau.

Here's what most DJs don't realise. The problem usually isn't the content. It's the format.

There are 7 formats worth using. Most DJs use two of them without even knowing it. Here's the full picture.

1. The Origin Story Where did it all start? The year. The record. The moment you knew. People don't follow DJs. They follow people. Your story is the most underused asset you have.

2. The Teach Post Pick one thing you know better than most and break it down step by step. Mixing in key. Reading a room. How to transition between genres. Teaching builds authority faster than almost anything else.

3. Behind the Scenes The load in. The soundcheck. The green room before a big gig. Most DJs only post the highlights. The process is what builds real connection.

4. Pick a Side Vinyl or digital. Headphones on or off. Two decks or four. Take a position and defend it. People who agree will validate you. People who don't will comment. Comments are free reach.

5. Social Proof The DM from a fan. The review from a client. The comment you got last Tuesday. Screenshot it. Post it. Let other people sell you. It works better than any caption you'll write yourself.

6. The Trending Moment Find an audio or format that's gaining traction and make it yours. Not because it's trendy. Because it puts you in front of people who have never heard of you.

7. The Ask Most DJs never actually ask for anything. Tell people to follow you. Book you. Download the freebie. Visit the link. Without a clear CTA, even great content goes nowhere.

Most DJs rotate between two of these seven without knowing it. Usually Behind the Scenes and the occasional Ask. The other five are where the growth is hiding.

Pick one format you're not currently using. Post it this week. See what the data tells you.

That's the whole job.

Reply and tell me what you're currently posting most. I'll tell you what's missing.

State of Social Episode 1

This is your weekly social media briefing built exclusively for the DJ and entertainment industry. Every week I pull the latest intel from across the social media landscape and filter it specifically through the entertainment industry lens. Because what works for a gym or a coffee brand does not work for a DJ, a festival, or an events promoter.

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs Every DJ has been here at some point. You write an opening line that feels strong, hit post, check back the next day and the numbers are flat. No reach, no saves, no shares. You move on and do the same thing the following week. The problem isn't the content. It's that there was no way of knowing whether the hook was actually working before it went out into the world. I built...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs The metric Instagram just told us matters more than likes. Most DJs are still chasing likes. Instagram doesn't care about likes anymore. The platform confirmed this year that shares through DMs are now one of its most important ranking signals. When someone sends your content to a friend privately, Instagram reads that as a sign your post is genuinely valuable - and pushes it...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs The DJ world doesn't have a talent problem. It has a distribution problem. I've watched incredibly talented DJs play to empty rooms while average DJs with strong brands headline festivals. For a long time that made me angry. Now I understand it completely. Distribution is the missing conversation in every DJ forum, every DJ school, and every mentorship programme. Everyone teaches...
