THIS WEEKS INTEL

Last week Metricool released a study of 2.3 million TikTok posts. Every headline metric is down. Views down 31%. Reach down 29%. Interactions down 31%. Total time watched down 87% in a single year. And yet I’m telling you to post more on TikTok, not less. Here’s why.

TikTok is still the fastest growth platform in social media by a country mile.

16% of TikTok accounts moved up a follower tier in the last year. Instagram, the nearest competitor, sits at less than half that. LinkedIn at 7%. YouTube at 4%. X and Pinterest at 1%. 44% of accounts under 100K followers grew between 2025 and 2026. So the platform isn’t dying. It’s just got more competition. 80% more content was published on TikTok in 2026 than 2025. The feed is full. The bar to get noticed went up. This is the distribution problem in plain numbers. You don’t have a talent problem. You’re a professional DJ. Your sets are good. Your sound is dialled in. What you have is a visibility problem on a platform where 7 out of 10 views come from the For You Page, not from your followers. That last line is the one I want you to sit with.

Your followers don’t matter on TikTok. The algorithm does.

Following tab traffic is down 29% year-on-year. It’s just 4% of all views. The For You Page drives 73%. That means every video you post is being judged on the signals you give the algorithm. Not on who already follows you. Here are the three signals the data says matter most in 2026:

1. Hashtags are back. Posts with hashtags get 5% more views and almost 10% more interactions. Use 1 or 2. Never more than 5. Avoid #fyp and #viral. Use specific descriptive ones.

2. Questions in the caption. Posts that include a question get 26% more comments. Comments are the strongest engagement signal you can send.

3. Time of day beats day of week. Peak window is 6pm to 9pm, with 8pm the absolute sweet spot. The day barely matters. The hour matters a lot. And then there’s the 10-day rule that nobody talks about.

96% of a post’s total reach and 98% of its interactions happen in the first 10 days. Stop panicking at 24 hours. Stop reposting at day 3. Let the algorithm test it for 10 days. After that, the post is done. This is the data that should change how you think about TikTok this week. The golden era isn’t over. The casual era is. If you’re a DJ who wants the algorithm working for you instead of against you, hit reply and tell me your TikTok handle. I’ll look at it.

ONE LAST THING...

The game has changed. Smart DJs are already using AI to get ahead.

Most DJs don't have a talent problem. They have a distribution problem. The bookings go to the DJs who get seen, not always the ones who mix the best.

The AI DJ Playbook shows you how to use artificial intelligence to build a brand, grow an audience, and get booked more often. It's not about replacing your skills. It's about amplifying them.

Written by Paul Hutchinson, a working DJ with over 35 years behind the decks, this is the practical playbook for DJs who want to stop being the best kept secret in their city.

Inside, you'll discover how to:

  • Build a DJ brand that stands out in a crowded market
  • Create content consistently without burning out or running dry
  • Use AI tools to prepare better sets and manage your music library
  • Grow an audience that actually books you
  • Write EPKs, bios, and pitches that get responses
  • Turn your DJ career into a business that pays

From soulful house clubs in Spain to running his own social media agency, Paul has spent the last five years helping DJs turn their passion into a profession. This book distils everything he uses in his own career and with his clients into one clear, actionable guide.

If you're a working DJ who wants more bookings, better branding, and a career that doesn't depend on luck, this is the playbook you've been waiting for.

Your talent got you this far. What you do next will decide how far you go.

The third book from the author of Amplify Your Brand and DJ's Guide to Success.

See you next Thursday.

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs THIS WEEKS INTEL Three years ago, most of the DJs I worked with were posting once a week, hoping the right promoter would scroll past at the right moment. Last month, the DJs who followed a proper distribution system were averaging more reach in a single week than they used to get in a year. This isn't luck. It's deliberate. And the approach is simple, which is why I want to walk you...

Kylie Jenner lost 14 million in a few hours. Most accounts dropped around 2%. And honestly? It's the best thing that's happened to your numbers in years. Here's what actually went down. On May 6th, Meta ran a sweep. Inactive accounts, bots, ghost followers, all gone. They're calling it routine. The scale tells...

Because nobody documented it. The DJ played well. The crowd showed up. The vibe was right. And then it was over. A few blurry photos on someone's story. Gone by Monday. The event is only half the job. What you do on social media before, during, and after is what turns one good night into a full calendar....
