Most events are forgotten before they even end. Not because the night was bad. Because nobody documented it.
The DJ played well. The crowd showed up. The vibe was right. And then it was over. A few blurry photos on someone's story. Gone by Monday.
The event is only half the job. What you do on social media before, during, and after is what turns one good night into a full calendar.
I've been running events for ten years now. Mi Casa Es Tu Casa started in Great Dunmow in 2016 and has taken me to Ibiza, Italy, Spain, and back again. The system I use is the same system I use with my clients for Rockin Social Media.
Here's how to promote your event the right way.
At least four weeks out, the countdown starts. Stories and posts that build anticipation. Not just "tickets available." Make people feel what it's going to be like to be there. Make them feel like they'll miss something special if they don't go.
The morning of the event, go behind the scenes. Stories of the setup. Not on the main feed. This creates FOMO before the doors even open.
This is the important part: On the day, post two live Reels. The first one captures the room warming up. Not packed yet, but the energy building. This is for everyone watching who didn't make it. The plan is they come next time. The second one is the party properly going off, packed dance floor hands in the air moments.
The day after, post a highlights Reel and a genuine thank you. Tag everyone. The DJs, the bar staff, the security. Make people feel seen. Ask the other DJs to collaborate on the post. Double the reach.
Two days after, drop the official photos. Ask people to tag their mates. And here's the move most DJs miss: mention the next event right there in the caption. That's when people are still buzzing. That's when they buy.
The bonus move: DM the people who were there. Not a mass blast. A personal message. A one-time attendee becomes a loyal regular when you treat them like one.
Practical takeaway
Save this as your event promotion checklist.
- Countdown posts and stories pre-event.
- Set up stories morning of.
- Two live Reels on the day.
- Highlights Reel and thank you the day after.
- Official photos and next event promo two days after.
- Personal DMs to attendees.
Run this system every single time and your events build on each other. Every night sells the next one.
