The opening line of your post is killing your reach.

Every DJ has been here at some point. You write an opening line that feels strong, hit post, check back the next day and the numbers are flat. No reach, no saves, no shares. You move on and do the same thing the following week.

The problem isn't the content. It's that there was no way of knowing whether the hook was actually working before it went out into the world.

I built something that fixes that. It's called First Bar.

You paste your opening line in before you post and it scores it out of 10 across three things - Curiosity, Emotional Pull, and Specificity. It tells you exactly what's working, what isn't, and gives you a rewrite if you need one. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds.

The reason I chose those three criteria goes back to 35 years behind the decks. The first bar of a track either grabs the room or it doesn't and a content hook works in exactly the same way.

Curiosity is what makes someone stop scrolling. If your opening line doesn't make them want to know what comes next, they're gone before they've read a word.

Emotional pull is what makes them care. Facts on their own are easy to forget. But if something hits a real feeling - frustration, recognition, ambition - that's the post they save and send to someone else.

Specificity is what makes them trust you. Vague claims wash over people. A specific number, a specific problem, a specific person - that's what makes a stranger think this was written for me.

Most hooks fail on one of those three. First Bar shows you which one.

Your first five scores are completely free. No card required, no catch.

Try it today by clicking the link below.

If you want unlimited scores and a community of DJs working on this stuff together, that's what the Amplify WhatsApp group is for. £20 a month and First Bar unlimited is the headline benefit. But start with the free version - paste in the last hook you posted and see what it tells you.

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs The metric Instagram just told us matters more than likes. ✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs The DJ world doesn't have a talent problem. It has a distribution problem.
