Instagram just gave creators clickable caption links. There's a catch.

This week Instagram started testing something DJs have wanted for years. A clickable link, right there in the caption. No "link in bio" workaround. No extra steps. Just a direct route from your post to wherever you want people to go.

Sounds like a win, right?

Here's the catch. It's only available if you pay for Meta Verified. And right now it's capped at 10 posts per month.

So Instagram has taken a free behaviour, turned it into a paid feature, and limited how often you can use it. That is the platform telling you exactly how much it values your organic reach.

I'm not saying don't use it. If you're Verified, use it. It will genuinely help move people from content to booking enquiry faster.

But the bigger lesson is the one most DJs miss.

The platform controls the game. Always has. Every time you build your strategy around a feature, an algorithm, or a format, you're building on rented land. Instagram can change the rules tomorrow. They have before. They will again.

The DJs who are future-proof are the ones who own their audience. An email list. A WhatsApp community. A newsletter. Something the platform can't take away.

That's the difference between visibility and ownership.

This week's action

Pick one place you're asking people to go on Instagram right now, a booking form, a link in bio, a DM. Then ask yourself: if Instagram changed the rules tomorrow, would you still have a way to reach those people? If the answer is no, that's your gap.

One more thing

I'm about 10 chapters into my third book right now. It's called The AI DJ Playbook and it's for DJs who are done waiting for the algorithm to do the work.

More on that very soon. Here is a sneak peak of the cover.

If you want to know where you actually stand on Instagram right now, the BrandOS Audit will show you in 10 minutes. It's £19 and you can view by clicking the button below.

State of Social Episode 1

Due to my Mum's funeral last week, I didn't have time to record episode 2 so I will do it over the weekend ready for Monday.

This is your weekly social media briefing built exclusively for the DJ and entertainment industry. Every week I pull the latest intel from across the social media landscape and filter it specifically through the entertainment industry lens. Because what works for a gym or a coffee brand does not work for a DJ, a festival, or an events promoter.

Watch it below.

On May 6th, Meta ran a sweep. Inactive accounts, bots, ghost followers, all gone. They're calling it routine. The scale tells...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs Most events are forgotten before they even end. Not because the night was bad. Because nobody documented it. The DJ played well. The crowd showed up. The vibe was right. And then it was over. A few blurry photos on someone's story. Gone by Monday. The event is only half the job. What you do on social media before, during, and after is what turns one good night into a full calendar....

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter - Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs I spent the last two weeks watching highlights of Coachella content with a Notebook open. Pausing. Rewinding. Trying to work out what the brands and artists who crushed it were actually doing differently. Seven patterns came out of it. I broke all of them down on this week's State of Social episode and I’m highlighting the one I think you will find most useful today. Because it...
