THIS WEEKS INTEL

Everyone's using ChatGPT for their artwork, and it shows...

Everyone's making their artwork in ChatGPT now, and you can tell. Line the flyers up and it looks like one person made all of them.

I've spent 37 years in the DJing world and I've moved from just playing to helping DJs build a brand, so I look at flyers differently these days. Here's what's actually going on, and what to do about it.

Everyone starts from the same blank box.
ChatGPT gives every DJ the same starting point, so it hands back its own in house style unless you change the prompt. This is how you can tell artwork was made from Chat, Multiple colours same layout, same details, you can spot it a mile away, and in my opinion this isn’t the way to go.

A clever prompt is worth nothing now.
The prompt you found got shared, copied and used to death within a week. Prompts are common property. What it means for you: stop collecting prompts and start building your own assets to feed them.

This is what a flyer looks like made with Chat GPT, they all look like this:

Your brand is the one thing it can't guess.
Your colours, your fonts, your logo, a proper photo of you. The model has no way to invent any of that. What it means for you: feed it your identity and the output stops looking like everyone else's. So if you haven’t got brand colours or a brand font, maybe now is the time you start. What it means for you: consistency across everything you post , people start recognising your brand straight away.

My suggestion…
Get the idea from ChatGPT, then upload it into Canva and use the magic layers tool to pull each layer apart. Now you can drop in your own photo, your own colours, your fonts and your logo, and take the generic edges off it. Remove all the bits that make it look like Chat Produced the artwork.

This is a piece of artwork I created this week for one of my clients using that exact system and it doesn't look like it was made with AI.

So remember that trick only works once you know what your brand looks like. So make sure you schedule that into your plan this week, and if you don't have a Canva account create one today. Or you can contact me, I create pieces like this every day for my clients and I'm happy to help at my hourly rate.

Talking of AI designed images, the one below was also designed with the help of AI, my new tool DJOS, everything you need in one place to stay organised and grow & manage your DJ career.

I'm gonna let you into a little secret, as we are friends on here, this tool and all the other tools I built were also created with the help of AI. I came up with the ideas, spoke to Claude about them who helped me plan the build and gave me the prompts for Manus who builds the tool using HTML code I then move that to a site called Netlify that hosts the site and that's it. I love how these AI tools can turn an idea into an actual thing without having to learn years of coding. You just need the ideas and the knowledge of how to use AI to help you.

DJOS is the operating system for DJs who are serious about getting more organised, more visible and getting more gigs.

See you next week, Paul

Most DJ accounts are ignoring all of it. Most DJs write the caption last. You upload the set, tag the venue, add a quick line on top, and share. Instagram has just published its own guidance on captions, and it treats them as central to how a post performs. In its words, the caption tells the search system what...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs THIS WEEKS INTEL For a lot of DJs, summer ending feels like the season winding down. The gigs thin out, the festival posts stop, and everyone goes a bit quiet. The booking calendar however says the opposite. The back half of the year is one of the busiest stretches there is, and a big chunk of it lands midweek, which frees up your weekends for other club gigs. Corporate party season...

✉️ Welcome to the BPM Newsletter Business, Performance, Marketing insights for DJs and creative entrepreneurs THIS WEEKS INTEL Most DJs run their career from memory. The gigs, the rates, the content plan, the follow-ups, all of it held in your head, or the back of a fag packet. Then you miss a booking or forget what you quoted someone last time. I’ve create a tool to help with all this it’s called DJOS and it just got 4 major updates. It's off Notion and on its own site now. Your own login,...
